(07/05/10) Gary Bunger long-time crew-member on La Tempete, passed away last Thursday, July 1st. Gary was a solid member of our fleet. He will be missed, as a friend and competitor, by all. Gary, from Quincy, Illinois was 57.
(05/01/10) Tsunami, one of the original boats in the fleet has been sold, skipper, Don Hayes confirmed. Under Don's leadership Tsunami won many events and season titles including Best 40.7 on Lake Michigan in 2007. Tsunami, reportedly to be renamed "Fly Swatter" will be moored at Charlevoix.
(01/24/10) Vayu arrived safely at Alice Town on North Bimini Island in The Bahamas after a wet, wild ride in 10-15' waves across the gulf stream, and 23 hours from Key West. The plan includes cruising the Berry Island until Friday morning when Vayu returns to Ft. Lauderedale.
(01/22/10) Vayu completed five days of racing at Key West, finishing 6th place (of 9 boats) in PHRF 1 section. Ten of Vayu's regular A-team participated along with their long-time trainer, Andrew Kerr who served as tactician.
(11/14/09) Mojo Crew member, Bob Constantino was married today.
(9/26-27/09) Collaboration 2 (Bob Vickery) won Section 4 and was 1st overall of the Goose Island MORF OPEN Regatta.
(9/26-27/09) Vayu crew member, Nigel Brownett, won 1st place for the Viper 640 section on his boat, Snake Eyes, at the International Sportboat Anarchy Festival at Coronado Yacht Club on San Diego Bay.
(9/23/09) Congratulations to long-time Turning Point crew member Nicole Donohue and husband Scott on the birth today of their son, Thomas Radek! (anyone need crew next summer?)
(9/21/09) Wendy Enerson of Tsunami will be running in the Chicago Marathon on Oct. 11th. (who else among the fleet will be participating?)
(9/20/09) Nigel Brownett of Vayu will be participating on his Viper 640, Snake Eyes, at the 2009 International Sportboat Anarchy Festival, Sept. 26-27th.
(9/14/09) Sailor Jack heard that Vayu may be going to Key West Race Week this winter.
(7/28/09) Collaboration 2, with skipper Bob Vickery, finished the Bayview Mackinac Race yesterday (Monday the 27th) in 2nd place in their section, ORR Class C, consisting of 12 boats. Collaboration 2 was 21st out of 60 boats in their division.
(7/22/09) Tom Weber and sons Byron and Ryan bicycled home from Mackinac Island.
(7/6/09) 40.7 Fleet decides not to use Kattack system for Verve Cup Regatta.
(7/7/09) Bob Vickery became a grandfather today. Congratulations to "The Lake Fox" on the birth of his granddaughter, Hannah.

The Chicago Beneteau 40.7 Fleet affirmed it's presence among the big-boat one-design classes in Area III with a booth at the Strictly Sail show at Navy Pier from Thursday through Sunday. Saturday evening a fleet skippers' meeting was held at the pier. The meeting had representatives from 9 of the 12 fleet members. After the meeting, about thirty people, skippers, crew, friends and relatives from six boats had at dinner Joe's Be Bop Cafe at the pier. Following that, many fleet members met at the Pink Pony Party at Belmont Harbor. Photos of the entire evening can be viewed at

t Beneteau 40.7 section know that they were intent on winning, Don Hayes and his crew took Tsunami all the way to victory by winning the first two races and following that performance in the subsequent races with respectable finishes of 5th and 3rd.
