Zukasky 2009

TURNING POINT WINS WINDY ZUKASKY REGATTA. VAYU is 2nd, La Tempete 3rd

(Saturday, August 8th, 2009)  

On a windy day, with gusts hitting 35 knots toward the end of the second race, Turning Point under skippers Dave Hardy and Bill Bartz finished 1st in the second race, after finishing 2nd in the first race, to win overall at Burnham Park Yacht Club’s Kathy Zukasky Regatta. Ron Buzil’s Vayu finished in 2nd place overall with finishes of 1st and 3rd, and Tom Weber’s La Tempete finished 3rd with 4th and 2nd place finishes. Ten boats competed in this one-design event.


2009 A-Series

La TEMPETE WINS 2009 A- Series

(Saturday, July 25th, 2009)  

The racing season is half over and Tom Weber’s La Tempete has won 1st place for the A-series consisting of the Olympic Cup, the Nood, the Hobelman and the Lutz Regattas. 2nd place is awarded to Ron Buzil’s Vayu, and 3rd place goes to Turning Point under co-skippers Bill Bartz and Dave Hardy.


Mackinac 2009

SLOW MAC RACE WON BY MOJO, COLLABORATION IS 2nd, RHUMB RUNNER, 3rd

(Tuesday, July 21st, 2009)  

In what was the slowest race to Mackinac Island since 2002 when the Beneteau 40.7’s began their own section in the event, Mojo, led by co-skippers Jeff Comeaux, Gary Powell, and Scot Ruhlander won 1st place over the fourteen one-design boats in the class.Mojo’s elapsed time was 66:51:40 (hrs:min:sec).


Lutz 2009

MOJO WINS LUTZ REGATTA

40.7's rounding the windward mark(Saturday, July 11, 2009)  After a three-hour delay waiting for wind, Mojo sailed to victory today at Jackson Park Yacht Club's Lutz Regatta.  Mojo led the 40.7 fleet at  all of the marks of the course and narrowly averted a last-second threat by Excalibur and Vayu who finished in 2nd and 3rd places respectively only 5 and 6 seconds behind.  (more...)

(Sunday, June 28, 2009)  Smashing the previous record time of 3 hrs. 43 min. 01 sec., set by Vayu in 2006, for the Waukegan to Chicago Race, Katie Goldman's Rhumb Runner set a new Beneteau 40.7 record today for this event of 2 hrs. 55 min. 2 sec. thanks to good seamanship and exceptional wind out of the west-northwest.  Katie later said, "It was exciting to see how well our young team works together under precarious and potentially dangerous situations."  (more...)

 


NOOD 2009

McDONNELL BROTHERS' SPANKER TRIUMPHS AT NOOD Winning 40.7, SpankerREGATTA

(Sunday, June 21, 2009)  "Dennis and I had modest expectations of being competitive and looking for an upper third of the fleet, for finishing position for the weekend."  So said skipper Jim McDonnell after Spanker's victory today at the 2009 Chicago NOOD Regatta.

2nd place was awarded to Tom Weber's La Temepte, and 3rd place to Turning Point under co-skippers Dave Hardy and Bill Bartz. (more...)

ERRATIC WIND FINDS COLLABORATION IN GOOD FORM
